My brain, despite it's training and it's experience with NewSpeak, human nature, and idiocy, is still in a bit of denial/shock over how the Mainstream Narrative/paradigm shifted so harshly and stupidly, between roughly 2010 and roughly 2020.
We used to have at least the Façade of an investigative journalism, fifth Estate.  News reporters used to at least pretend to be objective thinkers connecting dots.  We knew they were pretending, largely, but at least it was a show of good faith.
Every since perhaps the Obama administration, and DEFINITELY COVID madness, the News doesn't even pretend to try and be critical, objective or even factually useful. It doesn't matter which network, and even most streaming channels, are all blatantly bought , sold, and propaganda entertainment.  
Now no matter what you watch, if it's not legacy media, which is the worst of all, talking down to you as if you are an infant, and simply parroting whatever slogans their purchasers/masters tell them (no sources, backup or often true data, just subjective verbiage), then it is hyper partisan podcasts and youtube channels sparking faux outrage about hot button topics, with no middle ground.
Kind of makes you just want to stop paying attention to civilisation at all.  
Especially when you see how brainwashed most people are, in regards to failing the test of response.  That is to say, they get super anxious or angry about things that really don't concern their life, it's just that they have been shouted at for especially the last 5 years, and programmed for these emotional responses. 
Fascinating and sad. 
The time for a critical thinking (still can't believe they told you not to think on your own), balanced, and centre position, is more than needed, it's necessary for the survival of humanity, at this point.  I can't believe that the majority has ever been this entrained/ programmed, or stupid.

I suppose I suffer from some form of bias... because I see the distinct decline myself...

It's almost as if at some point, a given date, the concept of rhetoric as a tool to 'understand' was utterly erased from the minds of citizens... but that's just crazy, right?

I have children, those children are not immune from the 'consensus' conditioning that exploits this lack of 'a considered and taught' way to interpret the difference between what you are told, versus what you observe and know.  It's frightening that the older generation of "journalists" simply vanished before inspiring the next generation.

I thought it was generally basic human nature to compare 'data in' from outside sources vs 'data in' from one's own faculties/senses.
I thought it was harder work to override these innate senses with brainwashing than to follow your own senses.
