Really?  Actually — I see the complete opposite here on DI.

Those not of the Right IMO — make more factual posts than the hyperbole posts coming from those Right leaning.

And emotional?  Name calling attacks and various other rants are not coming from the Left — here on DI.

I am not asking rhetorically to embarrass anyone.  Has any governmental player said their reason was protecting indigenous Greenlanders?

The issue has been in the news concurrently with talk of purchase or annexation but has anyone actually used it as a reason to annex or buy Greenland?

Hypothetically speaking, more foreign investment would have the potential of improving the lives of native Greenlanders.

I wonder how we'll celebrate?

And yet you seem to have a POTUS who wants to be king...go figure.

I'm Scottish Ultra, I'm glad your nation smashed a monarchy and gained her independence.

As to how you will celebrate your 250 year experiment in democracy, hopefully not with a civil war.

Greenland population have heard of 1 mil usd each to vote for self identity and affiliation in this turbulent times with the US. Plus US citizenship in an instance. Just imagine!

luck...how many danish will move to the island to claim an offer?
Details have started to emerge about the US "purchase" of Greenland. It wasn’t exactly a purchase, but it was an EXCELLENT deal that includes:

1) Denmark must continue paying the Greenland population 600 million dollars per year.

2) The US gains sovereignty over any parts it wants for American military bases.

3) The US will have access to the entire Arctic Circle.

4) The US obtains the mineral exploration rights.

5) China and Russia are not permitted to enter Greenland.

6) The US will continue to be part of NATO in exchange for all of this.

More details are expected to be released soon by Marco Rubio.

It wasn't used specifically as a reason to annex Greenland

I believe it was interjected into the discussion after this Bessent interview

It gained traction when MAGA influencers shared it

Obviously, it was used as a talking point to demonize Denmark and sway public sentiment towards US ownership of Greenland

The irony is that Democrats are often condemned for exploiting minority communities for political gain

Dems are accused of portraying minorities as permanent victims with very little agency which is viewed as a subtle form of racism or paternalism rather than empowerment

Just goes to show there's very little difference between political parties when it comes to the abuse of power for partisan advantage

I believe this is all preliminary

Trump said today we'll know more in 2 weeks

(Where have we heard that, before)

From the Trump interview, this looks like the same deal we already had.

It looks like another case of Trump taking credit for  fixing a problem he created.

Nonsense.

There has been no "purchase" of Greenland.

And no finalised deal in sight.

Denmark and Greenland both say sovereignty is not on the table.

Discussions focus on Arctic security and the potential expansion of existing U.S. military access under NATO.

And the $600 million Danish subsidy already exists and is not part of any agreement.

The U.S. has not obtained exclusive mineral rights.

Or any Arctic access that they did not already possess.

Nor as far as i can establish the authority to ban China or Russia from Greenland.

Ah, the "we will know more in two weeks" line.

That old chestnut.

As far as I'm aware, the American people are still waiting on a replacement for Obamacare that was supposed to take two weeks...

"It's the ultimate long-term deal" bulls@it.
