I can’t even say it’s black, white, gray.
Government is a necessary evil and I think that is acknowledged by conservatives in the USA. Where the communist party and specifically the CCP the “religion” is the state. I rather live under the rule of the USA. I enjoy being relatively free of CCP rule. Accept where the CCP weaponizes trade, where the west has trapped itself being dependent on China(added in the false hope trade would wake the Chinese people up to more freedoms), and even cases of CCP secret police infiltrating the US to harass Chinese citizens living in the USA.
Greenland is part of limiting the influence of the CCP concerning the west and what it stands for.
Nice diatribe, but you still can't have Greenland.
And i agree Government is a necessary evil.
Thats acknowledged by most sane people across the globe.
The problem where the West and China are concerned is that we like there shinny, cheap toys.
Some of them not even that cheap anymore.
They have us by the proverbial short and curlies there...
"Yet so it is, we see the illiterate bulk of mankind that walk the high-road of plain common sense, and are governed by the dictates of nature, for the most part easy and undisturbed. To them nothing that is familiar appears unaccountable or difficult to comprehend."

He's also climbed down from the tariff threats he made against European leaders who supported Greenland's sovereignty.
What he is going for is sovereignty over the land some of those bases will be put on.
He deems it necessary because he has plans for an antimissile network, and you don't put that sort of thing under the control of someone like Denmark.

Nice bluster, but a reminder that this year is the 250th anniversary of the USA deciding that Britain can't tell us what we can or cannot do.
I wonder how we'll celebrate?

Looks like the Greenland deal was mostly about the proposed Golden Dome defense of the USA. Supposedly the deal is done without a shot fired.. When the signing is complete there will be full details to follow but is being said the USA got total access at no cost.

But I thought purchasing Greenland was a rescue mission to save Greenlanders from Denmark's mismanagement and abuse

The main thing has always been security
and keeping China from getting rare earth minerals.

really i swear, if half of leftist 'debate' is them pretending not to understand things, then the other half is them lamenting that the world does not run on their feelings
