Just like if his motivation is a good one ... we find out afterwards.
He makes me nervous.

And I can only imagine what the market is going to do Monday
because of this new 25% tariff on NATO countries.
That's my retirement he's screwing with.
Gotta' live off that money ....

Ugh, could be nothing but market manipulation...FWIW

Just be glad you have retirement FF.

We really could have used a good first quarter of the year

My degree is in psychology.
I think that for Trump this is probably true.
It would be irresponsible to say for sure.
Can't truly diagnose people long distance.
But I would think this would be the first thing
a psychologist would look at if he was ever
to be a patient of one.   The description looks
to be dead on accurate based on our (the
general publics) experience with the man.

Except that he is not.
J.D. Vance is a Catholic.
Nothing 'fundamentalist' about Catholics.
They are at odds with fundamentalists.

It could be like a MAGA Mandala.

Maybe, this is all good reason to begin to consider the possibility of having to think about handing it off to JD.

And No, its not insurrection to remind everyone we have an amendment for when the POTUS loses his f*cking mind.

I tend to agree with you here; unless there's a hidden aspect involved, and there may be, but I don't have a clue what it could be.

I lean towards market manipulation, raise tarrifs stocks tank, 2 weeks later tariffs reduced, it's resolved, stocks go back up.

I never worry about him internationally most times, but this...

I could see that except this time Trump said that the 25% tariffs would be on until those countries agreed that Greenland should be part of the USA.   They won't agree.   So Trump is kind of stuck eating his own words if he drops the tariffs in a couple of weeks.

I can handle churchy right now.

His affiliation with the Heritage Foundation is being overlooked in the hope he can return to the rival that called Trump out while paraphrasing Liz Cheney..

I think JD Vance is more likely to listen to Bacon [R] Nebraska, and Muskowski [R] Alaska, and Collins [R] Maine than Trump would ever be.

Vance would see lack of support for taking Greenland by military force and realize that might also extend to leveraging tariffs to get it that way.

He might be able to conclude the AMERICAN PEOPLE MOSTLY WANT A NATO SOLUTION, and dont want higher costs now so he can extract minerals for us later.

Screw China and Russia, but NATO or bust on this.  Because pulling out of NATO for unilateral control doesnt help weaken Russia or China in the Arctic AT ALL.  It ENDS the threat of NATO + America. And only his missplaced hubris makes us believe we can do it alone.

We suck at chess.

We need the moderate republican to draw the line. And Vance seems like enough of a populist to slide back  towards center.

And with NATO hanging by the finest thread of allyship it's a bridge to cross later.  Everything is already too chaotic for religious righteousness right now.

Yeah, his "childless cat lady shit" is detestable, but i think that was more, "Hey! Im on your team now, Trump. Consider me!"

Political Incorrectness and offending liberals was the currency Trump looked for on his team.  Just look at his cabinet and appointees.

Trumps Greenland Tariff Squeeze Detonates Europe Trade Deal

Quote:The EU trade agreement, struck last summer between Trump and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, still requires a rubber stamp from the parliament.

With the EPP now preparing to join left-wing groups already opposing the deal, it appears likely that they will have the votes to delay or block the deal from being formally approved.

The agreement set a US tariff of 15 percent on the majority of EU goods, with the EU pledging to eliminate duties on US industrial and agricultural goods. The deal was struck to avoid a trade war with the US.

In her own statement condemning Trump's threats on Saturday, von der Leyen warned the new tariffs, if implemented, 'risk a dangerous downward spiral'.
