Would China risk WW3?
I think their focus is on Taiwan.
A move against Taiwan would start WW3. Russia may be a shadow of what it was but that doesn't mean they get any kind of free pass.

But by mid-century, it is predicted to be traversable year-round. When shipping goods from Asia to, say, New York City, the shipping route through the Northwest Passage is 5000km shorter than going through the Panama Canal. That's huge! It's quite important because, while America has significant West Coast ports, those ports really don't have access to inland water routes like the East Coast ports do. They're fine for lightweight consumer goods, but for import/export of bulk materials from the midlands, they require expensive transport via roadway or rail. With the East Coast ports, the extensive network of connecting waterways and canals are much cheaper, if not offset by increase shipping distance at sea. The Northwest Passage provides that advantage, and this I think is why Trump is considering that US securing and protecting intermediate ports on Baffin Bay is essential to national security in the coming decades.
Waterways, waterways—I tell ya, it's about securing the world's trade bottlenecks under American control. Panama Canal, Suez Canal, Northwest Passage—there's a common theme running through Trump 'crazy' foreign policy.
Makes sense, it's likely a primary reason/excuse, just one of many ...

Anyone else think it's a mega-f*cked transition into an alternative doom reality that the statement:
"Europe having to perform exercises against their primary threat, The United States."
Is even being made?
Some concept of reciprocal hygge we have culturally.
But before i see "the end of the world as we know it" in a literal sense, I should look at the "arctic contingent" being sent...

Revised Statement - Anyone else think it's STILL a mega-f*cked transition into an alternative doom reality that the statement:
"Europe having to send (a minimum of token representatives) to (counter-posture) against their primary (cause for concern), The United States."
Is even being made?
Why do they even have to show solidarity to show us anything? Why should this even be a thing with NATO countries?

For Vulcan Elements and ReElement Technologies, the government received equity stakes and warrants (the right to buy stock in the future at a set price) as part of a financing deal.
Why not bring those interests up too, instead giving Denmark (and the world) Veruca Salt's Ultimatum?

And I don't want to share 'em!
I want a party with roomfuls of suck-ups

I want the mines
I want the whole mine
Bases and pipelines

I dont think Trump would start a war for resources that around 85% of Americans oppose... unless he's planning on holding on to power by ending democratic elections.
Though it is really nice he's acknowledging global warming. I mean, there wouldn't be a melting ice-caused growing need for arctic strategy without it...

To be fair, these countries are just doing military exercises 'just in case' scenario ...because Russia and China bad... and to show Trump that they have the Arctic secured to get him off their backs.
Everyone is of the same mind when it comes to Russia and China in the Arctic because they are very aggressive there with what they think are their territories - from what I've read.
If the Greenlanders want to sell their country or make a deal with USA, it's none of anyone else's business IMO. Although I'm not too sure Denmark would agree with the selling part.
Or am I being naive? You tell me IdeomotorPrisoner...is this the following statement just opinion/hyperbole?
" "Europe having to perform exercises against their primary threat, The United States."
"The only journey is the one within."

Booyah!
The people of Greenland have said they do not want to be Americans.
They are the ones that should decide the insane maniac you call a president.
USA has bases in Greenland and a treaty that says you are alowed to expand them. Settle with that.

I think it should be a state and the Minnesota Vikings should move there!

Denmark should tell Trump if he releases the Epstein Files in their entirety, they’d be willing to exchange Greenland.

That’s right, Greenland should do it because the Americans are to cowardly to demand it for themselves

I 'm confused as to why tRump can't understand.
Greenlanders only want to prevent an invasion and take-over by those 'Southern' Americans:
"When it sends its people, they're not sending their best... They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with them. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists... And some, I assume, are good people."
