He called me out once for using the word "Redneck" as a pejorative term, telling me it's not a moral thing, it's a socioeconomic one. I got schooled and amended my ways.

I truly hope that this friend still exists ... where ever it is we go after we're done here.

His wit, and charm were his obvious gifts...
his depth and character were always peeking through.

Farewell my old adversary.

The Redneck was one of the fiercest and most rigorous debaters. A no-nonsense guy of the land, but no dullard, a bit of an engineer and academic, too.

I respected him greatly and I'm sure my debating style owes a lot to his influence.

Marina from ATS messaged me today that The Redneck (Doug Tubbs) has died.

I don't have many details; there will be a post on his page from a very close friend later on today.  He was in hospice and had a DNR (for non-Americans, this is a "do not resuscitate" order... basically "let me die; don't bring me back."

I just read this and am saddened. He was always on ATS and although I never knew him personally , he will be missed. I’m Saying a prayer for him and his family tonight …

RIP my friend. You were so intelligent, a wonderful teacher & always so kind & helpful to me.
When we first met here you told me about your wife's rabbits & then every time spoke I asked about
your wife & the rabbits because I cared & also hoped you would remember me & of course you did!
