We'll bug hunt until we find any culprits. I am aware that the alerts system is a heavy resource. It requires constant database queries.

Please let us know if there is anything we can do to ease up the load.

You know, about 24 hours ago this site went offline completely for a few minutes. It wasnt just me I had other services check and it was indeed down. I wouldnt have noticed but I was in the middle of posting something when it happened.

That happened to me as well....
I lost a most cathartic post... couldn't get it back with the editor's built-in "last time you  left with a post pending" function... I was frustrated, but my inner adult prevented me from breaking anything...

(Although, confidentially, it was a harsh rant... so... it was probably for the best!)

I'll fix the font size back to the larger option too. The gradients were really hard on the page load. They're gone for good.

I recognize that this may be a "my system thing"...

but the lag seems to have returned... and it offers a tiny notification tag that explains it is loading "fontawesome" code...

for example i just clicked 'quote' to reply to this and it took 10 seconds to process.

edit: and 12 seconds when i hit 'post', and 7 second when i hit 'edit' to add this remark...

Thank you. All fontawesome icons are now hosted directly. It should no longer be calling an external url. I'm in the admin panel now. Let me know if this helps.

it's still hanging up trying to load "use.fontawesome.com".

i added a filter for "https://use.fontawesome.com/" to ublock origin and now the site is running like blazes!
