Election day 2024

I think it's not really an "American" affectation... it a "party" thing.

You see they don't actually care one whit for "America" the nation, they only care about the party and it's power.

Not claiming that it is a unique feature of either party... but after so many decades of cementing the 'duopoly' as the perpetual state of affairs, they are uninterested in "American" problems, only those obstacles to the party and its' immortal masters interests.  They captured the media, they captured the law, they captured social engineering... because that is what mattered to them.

I'm focusing now on the "promises" made... and whether they'll all be forgotten in the cloud of chatter the talking heads will engender.

Energy, economic defense strategy, the MIC money siphon, the insane "loyalty" to foreign interests, the utter disregard of the citizens culture and tradition, the degraded state of the law, the captured essence of information control, toxic amplification of spurious activism, the childish 'celebrity' worship of the parties themselves...  these are a few of my favorite things...

Well, folks, your Token Liberal here is indeed very depressed over the results.  You'd have felt as I do if the election went the way I hoped for.

I have many friends and family members who are at risk here (gay, trans, Black, Latinx, the entire Furry community, SF fans, Renfaire folk, SCAdians, etc) and I worry for all of them.  I am very concerned that we may lose Social Security and Obamacare; with hubby's Parkinson's and Diabetes (and a whole list of other problems) and daughter and grandchildren with medical problems, things could get grim.  One friend (widow) with multiple disabilities will likely lose her home and at least one other is at risk of suicide (another woman (age 77) whose medical expenses run into the thousands of dollars each month.)

I'll be looking into how to protect our finances... that's going to be critical.

One day at a time, I suppose.  I was afraid this would happen, but hadn't run many scenarios in my head because there's so many variables (how much of the administration will be replaced is one of those.)

Anyway... (sigh) I think I'll go try to focus on some research.  And reach out to those at immediate risk.

Thank you Byrd this is very touching and please know that many people regardless of party affiliation politics or disaffectation feel and share your compassion and are on your side. Why does this remind me of a community coming together after a hurricane or flood? Governance shouldn't be akin to a natural disaster.

Saving his money for the right moment...

This is a moment of strategic planning... where will it be used?

Buying more lawfare soldiers and manufacturing materiel of 'law war?'  Buying more "academics" for fun and profit? Field testing more 'journalist' and 'activists' from Hollywood?  Capturing more 'information distribution sources?" Sponsoring some more ambitious "up and coming celebrity talking heads?"  Greasing the palms of Big Tech, Big Pharma, Big Media, Big Food?...  Manifesting his 'priesthood' of "the proper future?"

Next stop... tactics.

Watch them fizz....

You’re overthinking and bought into the MSM Propaganda. You and your family will be fine. That’s the thing about MAGA — we give a shit about our fellow humans! My prayers are with your family!  Beer

I am certainly not especially inclined to liberality in general... but I too am losing my home, I too figure among the deeply afflicted 'forgotten in need.'  But I don't perceive that political team membership is a true solution to any of it.  I have found neither party (especially in the time of 'word slinging') really matters more than individual human beings conscientiously driven to help each other.

I will pray (unless it is unwelcome) for your situation (and those of your friends) to improve... regardless, you all have my well-wishes.

None of us deserve systemically imposed misery... especially when the 'system' is a function of political gamesmanship engendered for "superficial effect" rather than for an actual solution.

I'm sure that Lockheed, Northrop Grumman, Boeing, and all those who spent fortunes influencing both "sides" of the political diversity were not worried one whit about their share of the federal budget being cut. In fact, I recall no promises made in that regard from the "choices" we were given.

Maybe we'll be able to talk about Israel now without an online insanity-spiral? Nah, probably not.

Edit: Even the aloof literati are quite spicy: A Brief History of the Most Famous Swear Word in the World. I wonder if they're posting that today with a sly editorial tone of witty catharsis?
