I think you understand grok.

I don't even know what grok is lol

I'm tempted to google it but won't.

Really? You sort of struck me as someone who might have read Stranger In A Strange Land in the first edition.

It means to understand, but in a way that the understanding becomes the truth of one's self, rather than an externality.

Or something like that.

That's pretty cool!

Elaborate? Thats a funny idea

I have Meniere's disease and as a musician and losing half my hearing or maybe more now, in my left ear at only age 42 is was very depressing at first.

I meditate and do ritual almost daily and I do notice i cannot use binaural beats or listen to music in headphones in a meaningful way anymore unfortunately.  I also notice that in vibrating God names or mantra that its much more powerful with my hearing aid in. Everything is frequency and vibration.

I had very loud tinnitus as the hearing was going. Now it is very quiet and I can ignore it as those hairs have died.  I got my first hearing aid in July this last summer.

What helps me is realising and feeling , experiencing ,not just knowing, that this body is a temporary shell.
I try to care for it but we all know they fail in different ways at different times , no matter what we do.

It's part of life in the physical.
So be happy for what works, and try to get by with what doesn't , physically, I guess!

A simple litmus test.

Apply it to politics, conspiracy rabbit holes, science, hobbies, videos people recommend.

Everything about this reality is constructed to distract you.

Keep the fundamental focus. Ask if it really matters, and to what end. Don't get lost in the circus.

Just as a counter-point (not that you needed one.)

... But it doesn't help that we all live among those who "craft and create" the circus for their own entertainment,
despite anyone else's intentions otherwise...

It doesn't help that what someone was wanting to say or ask, is smothered for the 'joy' of that circus.

Can ten people who want to explore a topic, or simply thinking on the perceptions of others, really be told...

"Well it really doesn't matter, ...'dots on a screen,' ..."go buy a yogurt."...?

No one seeking to engage others should rightly acquiesce to that circus as an "it is what it is" factor.

I bet a lot of people come to DI intentionally seeking not to have to suffer the "I'd post but why" frustration... in light of no good reason other than a tangential member spat that just won't end.

Each if us chooses what matters to us...  all of it is separate from us, thus can be characterized as distraction...
No one grows looking only inward, nor only outward...

awareness calls it's own value to itself.

... these topics are not ever contentious because of what we learn, I think...

I love the circus of it all its so entertaining, the political theater and drama

BUT its purely a distraction. We rarely discuss politics in the real world; we are too busy or too tired.

I'm not verse in any spiritual/religion teachings myself, hence I can't vouch for the veracity or efficacity of what they are discussing, I found the idea interesting nonetheless.

This one I thought I might try at some point. There were other interesting discussions. Reddit thread

Meh.

I've had tinnitus for almost 30 years, after a bad bout of the "flu".
Nothing spiritual there. Saint2

do you have th ekind that comes and goes at times if so you could use it as like some people use rubber band around the wrist reminder for what ever you want like oh dont get caught in the circus or oh i am spiritual being experiencing human or oh this isnt going to matter when i am ready to go

have you ever been anechoic chamber or float tank

maybe reverse the image and instead of hearing ringing it is your brain shooting audio mapping waves into world like bat, it might not help but could be fun haha
