White and gold is my answer.

As you know thats apt to vary per person.

So was I. About using the second photo to inform and perhaps modify your perception of the first?

Ambient viewing conditions? Perceived white point? Gamut clipping?

Actually, never mind. No one wants a rant about colour perception. What would be the point?

Hey, is it snowing there?

Goodness. He asked you to give your opinion on the dress, not wear it.

For me, it is much akin to the twirling dancer illusion, wherein your perceptions of the moment change and you are capable of two -- often opposing -- visual perceptions.    I can see the ballerina illusion as turning in either direction, and I imagine that everyone else can also.

Likewise, with the dress...   I have looked at the photo in different light, different angles, close-up and far, and the latter was the most illuminating to me:    Far away, the dress looks like very light blue with gold.    Closer, it appears white/gray with gold.
