I'm not sure what way it was taken, and I believe it was not taken that way but rather as a general disparagement, but since you mention it I though I'd point out the slang meaning, for those who might not be aware.

Plus, clowns are creepy and some people find them scary.

With words like Nazi,Facist, Hitler, and misogynistic being bandied about clown seems rather tame...

and again, just because some find something scary, doesn't mean it should be avoided

I've been watching others' opinions that the government, like all other world governments on the authoritarian side, will seize this opportunity to crack down on free speech and people's rights to their benefit. It is what has historically been done and I won't be surprised if it will be done here.

I wasn't referring to people losing their jobs for them speaking freely as to what they believe Kirk's messages to mean to them and the company firing them because they may have perceived that they overstepped the company's mission statement.

I was referring to the Trump government may take action to end free speech and people's rights on the middle and left or where any questioning or dissent is to be found. I will keep an eye out for this.

So far the Trump government is using the word 'they' and so are right winger mouthpieces.

This murderous act was committed by one person and your government is jumping on this to demonize another political party in it's entirety, and maybe even anyone else that they may consider their opinion or free speech as being something which they can use against them to shut their voices down.

The violence by those folks in that group of mental defects is ramping up and ignoring it is no longer an option.
Folks can talk about what’s to be done about it, like Charlie did, or folks can pick up a weapon, like that insane group wants.

Or better yet, the majority of those who write/are for more gun laws, like the ex head of the ATF, can't even operate a simple hand gun.

There is no 'they' or 'group' there are only individuals that pick up guns to kill for whatever reasons. Everyone should be talking about finding out what the root causes of those reasons are and addressing them, not running half cocked on social media blaming groups that they themselves hate.

Uniting the left and right begins within. Societal strife is a projection of unresolved internal conflict in the populace.
