Looking at the way the US state embraces Israel

Quote:Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them.

I avoid talking about the Israel/Palestine issue as I consider it too complex for me to give an opinion from ignorance.

I think it's true words can stir deep emotional responses. There is also a certain responsibility we all have to not allow words to be the catalyst for violence however as we continue to see not everyone has that restraint. In this setting Mr. Kirk was trying to promote the idea that it's okay to talk about things even with your emotions or beliefs in a way to separate the emotional parts from the logical arguments and through that maybe find some middle ground of we may not agree on much but that's okay we can all still live together. I think some people get fired up from propaganda and rhetoric and then deny the conversations and go straight to violence weather that is by agenda or just a natural response to an outrageous claim. I doubt we ever see an end to these types of tragedies.

We don't have to agree, just coexist.

We will always have "nutters" but right now it seems like there is a surplus

What bothers me is that the level of vitriol reminds me of those who were ecstatic when MLK, X, JFK, and RFK were all assassinated, or maybe it's reading it in real time.

Been saying this a lot lately
But all parties need to keep our shit together, right now the first side that loses thier shit loses.

The left side seemingly lost last week...and continues to do so. The right needs to be concise and on point, measured and methodical, as the left has lost its moral high ground. The left seems to be fracturing a bit; let it happen
