Did they go after nicotine because of money

My dad smoked rollups with no filter, and yet still got lung cancer.

Could have gotten that form being a joiner as well through, all the old fireplaces pulled out and other crap breathed in from construction materials over the years.

Im apt to ponder it's the carcinogenic additives they put in the cigarettes.

I am curious if anyone here uses a nicotine vape.
I quit smoking cigarettes a while back and use one instead, usually a 50mg/ml strength.
It seems much healthier for the lungs! Maybe still unhealthy in some way, and certainly not an addiction to be desired. But better!
Are they easier to quit?
If you use one what do you recommend for liquids?

I have known many children of smokers that have ongoing respiratory problems, most likely due to growing up around cigarette smoke.

That doesn't mean the tobacco companies aren't using toxic chemicals. It is safe to assume that they are. All sorts of bad chemicals have been added to everything we use for hundreds of years.

There looks to be plenty of evidence showing that children exposed to cigarettes are more likely to have health problems.

Yeah, I cough up some thick brown crap from the Devil's Weed, but I now can breathe like even I can't believe. My lung capacity had easily doubled soon after I stopped smoking and I believe that was the best thing I ever did for my personal health, pothead or not.

Snap.

One of the best things i did also.

Both from a health and monetary perspective.

I use one, i would say it's much healthier than smoking cigarettes.

But that depends on what's in the juice.

As long as they dont start adding hundreds of additives and stick to the Propylene glycol/Vegetable glycerin and Nicotine, its all good.

But it's the flavorings that can be problematic, or other stuff they may put in there and not say so on the label.

Quality control is the answer, just like with any drug or product.

Of my 30+ years of nicotine use, I vaped for more than 10 years.

Healthier? My smokers cough disappeared within a couple of weeks of making the switch. I used a much lower strength liquid, maybe 10mg/ml, and I did not find it any easier to quit. I finally quit using the patch, and I had the extra motivation of chest pain every time I vaped.

My breath, and my cloths did not stink as bad. That was a positive.

I noticed the older I got there were fewer, and fewer smokers in my age group. And more of the ones that continued to smoke ended up on oxygen.

I would suggest to anyone that is a current nicotine user that they talk to there doctor about getting the test to measure there calcium score. It is relatively inexpensive, only takes a few minutes, and will give you an indication of what is happening to your arteries. Maybe think about following up every few years to track your progress.

Resident Lurker has been very ill with long Covid since January 2020- a long stretch.
We are going to give this nicotine patch a test run and see if there is any improvement.
We've tried just about everything possible- the Drs. are no help. The last one was trying to prescribe an inhaler that cost $2500 a month. No

On a side note- I used to be a bank inspector and on one occasion I had the opportunity to audit a tobacco operation. It was shocking to say the least.
They hung the tobacco leaves in smoke houses and then used something really strong to fumigate them and kill rodents.
The first thought I had was that people were going to inhale those chemicals. If they were killing rodents they would kill people over a longer time period.

I don't know if they still do that but still it just didn't look healthy.

I haven't smoked a cig in over a year now (after 30+ years) and use a JUUL pen instead with 3% nicotine juice pods.  I don't miss cigs but every now and again I'll habitually do something I'd do as a smoker such as go to sit out on the back porch with my coffee and morning cig.  I catch myself going to the drawer I kept a pack in but then I'll catch myself and be like "wtf?"

Going in to smokey places like casinos wasn't too tough.  The smell really gets to me now

Can't stand the smell of cigarettes, but aromatic pipe tobacco has always made me smile when I smell it. Always has ever since I first smelled it as a kid. I contemplated picking up a pipe for a "every once in a while" smoking session, but I honestly don't see the worth in it after having smoked cigarettes for so long and feeling so much better now that I've quit.

If you want to stop smoking just get some snuff, and lesson the dose over a couple of weeks, Its made from the ground up stems of the plant. But a Pipe or a cigar or a few rollups are not going to kill anyone, in fact as a stress reliver it is better than Prozac. The do Gooders do more harm, as they get their jollies by stopping other people from getting theirs , it has always been so and probably always will be.
I think the poor health of the population has a cause, and when looking for the cause of any illness always go for the simplest cause first as it usually is that , IE the food is crap and hasn't got the forty-eight essential elements in the quantities required to keep a human body healthy. They are trace elements, which plants need time to bring up from the soil, rainfall and faster growth mean they are depleted. Just for interest I asked AI what would be the one single food source that would supply a lot of these essential elements, and to my surprise it said one Brazil nut a day would supply the ones that are generally lacking in the modern diet. Take that for what it is, So I have added one Brazill nut nicely shredded up as a garnish to my daily regime lol.
