Some Cautions about Nicotine use.
#1
Although Nicotine is a potent antidote  for venom's. 6mg Nicotine Patches for about a week. Have been shown  to remove long Covid-19 symptoms within a month. By theoretically replacing venom's on Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. I have recently come across some concerning potential problems if not used correctly.
Oral delivery methods like pouches and gum are of some concern.

Tobacco use is associated with increased pocket depths, loss of periodontal attachment, alveolar bone and higher rate of tooth loss.

Some are using excessive amounts of pouches and gum that will likely cause gum issues.

So I no longer recommend oral use of nicotine. Especially excessive amounts of pouches and gum. Over a long period. Instead. Skin patches are a better method of delivery.
Quote:AI Overview  Nicotine pouches and gumcan cause significant damage to gum tissue, primarily through localized irritation, reduced blood flow (vasoconstriction), and chemical exposure. Common effects include gum recession (where gums pull away from teeth), inflammation, sores, and an increased risk of gum disease. These products can also cause dry mouth, which increases the risk of tooth decay. Key Effects of Nicotine Pouches and Gum on Gums:
  • Gum Recession: The most common effect of nicotine pouches (like Zyn) is localized gum recession directly where the pouch is placed, often exposing tooth roots.
  • Vasoconstriction (Reduced Blood Flow): Nicotine causes blood vessels in the gums to narrow, reducing oxygen and nutrient delivery to the tissue, which weakens the gums and impairs healing.
  • Inflammation and Irritation: Constant contact with pouches can cause chronic inflammation, resulting in red, sore, or swollen gum tissue.
  • Oral Lesions: The high pH and chemical flavorings in pouches can lead to irritation, white patches (leukoplakia), and ulcers in the mouth.
  • Increased Risk of Disease: Despite not containing tobacco, the nicotine can accelerate periodontal (gum) disease, potentially leading to bone loss in the jaw.
How to Reduce Damage
  • Rotate Placement: Constantly switching the position of the pouch in your mouth can reduce localized irritation.
  • Improve Oral Hygiene: Regular brushing and flossing are essential to combat the increased risk of gum disease.
  • Maintain Hydration: Drinking water helps mitigate the dry mouth caused by nicotine.
  • Regular Dental Checks: Visiting a dentist regularly is crucial to monitor for signs of early gum disease or damage.
Disclaimer: While generally considered less harmful than smoking, nicotine pouches are not harmless and can cause irreversible damage to gum tissue

Emerging Oral Nicotine Products and Periodontal Diseases

Tobacco is not the only way to get nicotine that effects the nicotine acetylcholine receptors.  You can eat eggs or foods containing choline ...  choline plus acetic acid...basically vinegar...can combine in the gut to make acetylcholine.  Eggs have that Phosphatidylcholine which is also naturally bioactive.

Plus, although it is not taken in through the mouth or lungs and directly enters the blood, foods high in nicotinic acid do make it to the brain and that is found in lots of veggies.  Also, most nightshades have some bioavailable nicotine in them or related similar chemistry if you consume them.

Nictoine or nicotinic acid are an antidote for ethynol and methanol toxicity.  The result forms ammonia and also some aldahydes.  Ammonia has some positive effects on metabolism in the body, but too much is harmful.  It can balance the glutamine/ glutamate cycle....kind of kills some kinds of joint and nerve pain plus it can moderate the glutamate in the brain sometimes if it is too high...but I have not studied the method of action of that, but it involves ammonia which is used in that cycle within the synapses of nerve endings somehow.  But It would be more wise just to not get hammered instead of smoking or chewing tobacco.

So, too much coffee can be neutralized with a cigarette, and too much alcohol can be neutralized with a cigarette too to help a little with sobering a person up.  But still, most alcohol drinks do contain some glutamate chemistry, alcohol does not give you the good feeling when drinking a mixed drink or beer, the glutamate does that.  Good moonshine just makes your legs turn to jello.  Nitric oxide is better to get rid of drunk than cigarettes are, but it can be very dangerous and can kill you if overused.

Nicotine can be used as a medicine, and tobacco is used to create multiple medicines.

I don't smoke much unless I am drinking coffee, don't drink alcohol anymore, that cut my smoking down a lot when I quit that years ago.  I still occasionally have a beer or hot tottie or even a seven seven.  Maybe a total of six drinks a year, two of those usually are hot totties in the winter.

I know quite a bit about food science and metabolism, but still have lots more to learn yet.  I learned ten years or more ago to not automatically believe in what I already know, I investigate both sides of everything over the last two decades when it comes to food chemistry and environmental influence on health which includes nutrition.  Metabolism is specific to everyone usually, we cannot all eat the same.  That is good, but only one thing all medical science seems to agree on....too much ultraprocessed food is not good for anyone.  From what I have studied and evaluated with my own consumption and observing others, this seems to be true. Food can be psychoactive....in fact, it almost always is....swaying our minds one way or another....effecting people differently depending on if your diet is properly balanced.

Nicotine can be a medicine, I am positive of that.  Many people can convert Trimethylglycine (TMG) to choline or choline to TMG, but some people can only convert it one way or the other, and like me, I lack both enzymes, so I must eat foods containg choline, and foods containing TMG.  cooked Spinach in an omlet is really good for me to balance that.  Both TMG and Choline in the body have different functions and we need both.  Now, if you paid attention to what I said, you will notice what I am saying in this paragraph is kind of important to some and related to the whole post if evaluated correctly.
