A fun note that Harari's title is "Distinguished Research Fellow, Centre for the Study of Existential Risk". Which seems about right. I would place him at the centre of existential risk.

Don't think I could watch a full Harari lecture mate - can't put my finger on it but he definitely gives me the creeps lol.

For folks interested in his opinion Corbett once read Harari's book and reports back here - apparently we are all 'useless' and 'hackable animals'.

Regarding spiritual 'beliefs' looks like some at the WEF could have some extremely strange (and inverted) ones.

Haven't read this book yet but Bailey (and Crowley) turn up a lot in NWO research - see the year 1934 on this timeline and a 'demon spirit' called Djwahl Kuhl.

The title of that article is "AI Is Poised to Take Over Language, Law and Religion, Historian Yuval Noah Harari Warns". The thing is, Harari "warns" in the same way that someone who is saying "I am going to punch you in the face" is "warning".

That guy is the goto debater on AI? His argument seems somewhat weak. I doubt langage is the sole factor that allowed "humans to take the world".

His title looks like a politician speech, lot of words to not say much. And then, let's simply ignore the fact that the current 'AI' can't 'recognize' all the nuance of any language, and thus can easily 'hallucinate' and starts spewing gibberish.

“If laws are made of words, then AI will take over the legal system,” he said. “If books are just combinations of words, then AI will take over books. If religion is built from words, then AI will take over religion.”

And then these guys go on tv telling normies that tinfoilers are a bunch of lunatics, well here's a pot that calls the kettle black.

Cant wait for the "irony" of massive "no kings" protests in support of Denmark and The EU, and for when that basic little deflection device of "but they have a king" is all that is needed for the cognitive dissonance of supporting a tyrant undoing our place in the world order for himself, and in CHINA'S FAVOR.

AI has not yet been achieved.

The LLM/algorithm 'appearances' are a great distraction... but that is not AI.

All this impending AI doom is just porn... based upon technocrat wet-dreams... the same technocrats that haven't a clue what it means to lead 'people.'  Their visions are table-top games... ever notice?

The engineers now are trying to set up a "process" to "imply" their "edicts"have authority...
and only "their" so-called "AI" gets to vote...  

I have yet to see. or hear anyone who can point at something and say "here is AI" and have it be a factual statement, rather than an opinion or perspective.

There is no 'almost' in achieving "AI." (similar to... you're never "almost" pregnant.)

It would have been 'honest' it they had used LLM instead of "AI", but oh well! I guess "AI" has a more dramatic tone, it makes the 'message' sound important.

So now it's authors that are gonna 'debate' the "great issues of humanity"? What isn't a play nowadays, I wonder?

You are in full-on "old man yells at cloud" mode on this one, Max. The consensus is that it has. Or at least, what there is now (agentic LLMs) is validly called AI. It's a bit of an existential conundrum, by contrast highlighting that we in fact don't really have any certainty of the existence of Natural Intelligence (NI), as perhaps what passes for public discourse would exemplify.

So you're in the territory of those who say the Presidential Debates aren't "debates", or the process through which our politican's gain power isn't "democracy". You're wrong; it is—because they say so. So we must too. To disagree removes one from the discourse.

And as to what these "AI" can achieve? Many criticize it as a facsimile, an imitation, an uncreative "good enough" churn of unintentional pseudo-quality. But again, couldn't one also say the same of culture in the 21st century? Many do. So perhaps it's sufficient, and in it's sufficiency, becomes the only reality. Well, well, well, one could indeed notice the somewhat 'logical consequence' of consumerism, that is, quantity over quality.

Music seems to have fallen at the rise of the "music industry". Change music by anything else and the result stays the same. "Appearance" is the foundation of nowadays 'culture', at least in 'developed countries'.

However, let's not forget the constant efforts from marketing to 'induce' a need to 'possess' the next "new, shiny, [insert a thing here]" with subliminal imageries and speeches.
