it certainly doesn't sound good mate - have you looked at the 'digital ID' fiasco in India?
It's been called 'one of the largest disasters of the century' and people are literally getting 'locked out of survival' being declined food rations, hospital access, pensions etc..(more on starvations here).
As well as insane corruption within a short time criminal networks had also hacked biometric data.

I don't like being a Debby-downer...

And I do feel that given time and knowledge, people do see the 'unreasonable' in a world that is only ever "presented" to them as a finished product.  Eventually, they will conceded the lie of 'Utopian promises.'

So if everyone in 'governance; decides to use the power of the people they represent, to line up a 'power play'...
making sure they - (and theirs) - always get the 'power' and 'benefits' of 'forevermore;'

the represented will also generally, say "no."

Governments will '[generally]' posture into coercion, extortion, "enforcement," and the usual approach to "having their way."   They will manifest their will through force.

People know what to 'expect' to go wrong...

Because it always happens when the 'machine' 'declares' 'reality'.... according to the government's "speech."
