Thanks for the McCartney thread.  Great music, great talent.  He's definitely one of the best, and has lasted the longest, and still going strong.

I remember finding a Paul McCartney (II) vinyl album in my basement from my parent's old collection from the 70s and 80s when I was a child.  Coming Up was the one I remember getting into most.

I got into The Beatles a bit more as a teen in 1995, when they released one of those double CD anthology albums, and they had re-recorded an old John Lennon song, Free As a Bird, and even made a music video for it:

Here's a little anecdote I heard on a late night TV talk show once:  Weird Al Yancovic once did a remake of Wing's 'Live and Let Die', and he changed it to 'Chicken Pot Pie'.  When he asked for McCartney's okay to use it officially on an album, McCartney politely declined because he is a very strong vegetarian, and didn't really like the idea of one of his songs being used in such a way as that.

Indeed I know this story haha. Kinda lame of Paul, you'd think he'd have a sense of humor about it but yeah he and Linda were really proactive with their vegetarianism stuff.

McCartney II is also probably the most polarizing and controversial album in the mainstream titles. You either HATED it or kinda thought it wasn't bad. It's basically a self-indulgent indie album of Paul doing home recordings after Wings broke up, and before he swung back into action with collaborations with Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson etc.

RE: "Free As A Bird" great video lots of easter eggs.

Fun fact that song was produced by Jeff Lynne of Electric Light Orchestra who also produced another Lennon demo with The Beatles "Real Love."

I didn't know about the cancer, so, glad you're feeling better.

The only McCartney album I had was his first 1970 McCartney. I haven't heard it in so long that I hardly remember it.

Looking at the track list: I remember "That Would Be Something" and "Maybe I'm Amazed". I bet if I listen to the whole thing I'll remember more. Sometimes song titles don't include part of the lyrics as a hint.

Okay. Ima gonna listen to it now.
There's a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people. - Commander William Adama

I know of one you might enjoy, a rare live performance of "Every Night" done for MTV.
