Multiple high‑ranking D.C. police officials are facing termination or other disciplinary action, four officials told the Washington Post on Monday, as the department comes under heightened scrutiny from federal authorities.
 
What we know:
According to the report, two assistant police chiefs are among those recommended for discipline, the officials said, speaking on the condition of anonymity.
 
At least some of the proposed actions stem from an internal affairs investigation into alleged manipulation of crime data, the officials said. The city, the Department of Justice and congressional Republicans are all examining the matter.
 
Those accused of misconduct will have the chance to respond through the department’s disciplinary system, a process that can lead to arbitration and, in some cases, take years to resolve.

If you don't arrest them or prosecute them, then it didn't happen. Look at Illinois. Their crime stats when down....after they changed the laws to benefit the criminals. If you're a law abiding gun owner, you could be a felon and not know it, but if you actually commit a crime, well, you were probably just having a bad day so we're going to call that car jacking an error in judgement.

This has been in the news since at least July of 2025.

The Metropolitan Police Department confirmed Michael Pulliam was placed on paid administrative leave in mid-May. That happened just a week after Pulliam filed an equal employment opportunity complaint against an assistant chief and the police union accused the department of deliberately falsifying crime data, according to three law enforcement sources familiar with the complaint.
 
The union claims police supervisors in the department manipulate crime data to make it appear violent crime has fallen considerably compared to last year.

For some reason, supervisors were trying to make it look like a large drop in violent crimes during 2025. Go figure.

The policing and crime statistics have been fairly consistent and reasonable for decades. They are verified by the FBI, by the Bureau of Justice Statistics and by civil rights watch and police reform third parity organizations. We have no reason to doubt the statistics due to the level of scrutiny applied to them.

But Trump needs to manufacture a situation to remove the protections of the Constitution, to instigate martial law and to remove the vote.

There is already a database of people who attend legal protests, and of those who record video of federal agents. The existence of this database of 'domestic terrorists' has been revealed after investigations of the ICE and CBP shootings of civilians. Domestic Terrorism Offender-Level Database (DTOLD) (CNA Corporation, formally known as the CNA Military Advisory Board, is a federally-funded nonprofit research and analysis organization).

No doubt, after implementation of martial law, there will be massive numbers of 'arrests of criminals' which will be used as justification for the crack-down.

Trump needs to establish emergency powers and martial law within the US to retain power. He tried-out a proof of concept on the relatively law abiding and immigrant light Minnesota. He really did it, it is obvious and it is history.

Trump will make such actions nationwide because of the 'crime problem' that he is now manufacturing.

chr0naut - I would just challenge you to spend some time on any given weekend in Indianapolis or Chicago. You would see that crime is not down and statistics are manipulated as talking points for local politicians.
