I will just repeat myself here, cuz why not.

In 'real' crop circles the stalks show evidence of microwave radiation. The cells have been irradiated and the stalks are not broken, merely bent over due to 'weakness' from the radiation.
The articles I linked show this has been done in the lab , in experiments to show viability of the method. 

The question is how was it applied in the field. 
I am thinking some of of the floating orbs over the fields are directed radiation?
They also could be intelligent.

The plants were not broken in any manner when it was not known how they were made, however when tests were made of people using mechanical contraptions to bend down the plants, there was always breakage.

How’s laying over or changing the geometry of a plant stalk not a mechanical process in that it’s changing the physical shape of the plant.

Because these stalks have been looked at under the microscope and the parts of the stalk that are 'bent'  have plant cell walls damaged by radiation.
It's specifically applied, not just vaguely in the environment.   It's not all the land, all the plant, or each plant.  That's how you tell the difference.
