Could some theories in physics be truly something else instead?
#1
Hey forum I'm posting this thread because the other day I was watching ancient aliens and they were talking about dyson spheres. I read up on them and I see there are all kinds of dyson stuff. The theory was coined by a man named Freeman Dyson who died in 2020 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freeman_Dyson

As I was reading his stuff I realized he wasn't always confident about his theories...anyways I want touch on the idea of a dyson swarm... When I was reading about a dyson sphere I thought that the swarm and sphere are pretty much the same if you think about it, first you would create a swarm of satellites which could evolve into a sphere. But here's the plot twist..

What if consciousness could be a dyson swarm? As you're thinking your thoughts are swarming around and when you focus on a thought your mind surrounds it like a sphere. You can really see your consciousness swarm while looking towards the sun, but not directly at it. They look like little black dots around your eyes.
Dyson trees are said to grow in comets, so if there are dyson concepts about stars, comets, everywhere in existence what if that could be the key to consciousness? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyson's_et...telligence

Those little black dots for me are called floaters. I'll go check
out your links now and try not to be a further nuisance. :)

My understanding being a dyson sphere is a hypothetical solid shell that surrounds a star.

A dyson swarm is the more realistic concept.

Swarms being physically feasible in principle.

But a solid sphere would probably be structurally impossible and run into all sorts of issues, and most likely the star.

The black dots you see near bright light are eye floaters, not thoughts.

I mean its an imaginative metaphor.

But I don't think there is any evidence consciousness works like a dyson swarm would...

Then again i suppose that would depend on how you designed said swarm.

Considering the complexities and calculations required, where the likes of station keeping alone would be concerned.

That doesn't happen to me, I suppose each person has their own thought and visualisation processes.

Well honestly its a very subtle observation of mine.  I notice that my eyes move around a bit more as I'm trying to think (swarming) rather than when I have my mind focused on something.

Eye movement is pretty common.

When your thinking, your brain is doing a lot of searching and memory retrieval.

It's also linked to language processing and recall.

A lot of people look up, away, and sideways, depending on what they are trying to suggest or say.

According to NLP related psychometrics, when you are inventing ideas (or potentially lying), your eyes look up and to the right, and when you are recalling you look down and to the left.

I don't know if that is always true, but I do notice that I have eye movements when I am thinking with my eyes closed.

Eye movement is a strange thing.

Do you know your eyes rotate to try to maintain level when tilting your head from side to side? I noticed this while wearing cat eye contact lenses and looking in the mirror. They rotate up to about 15 degrees both ways.

It is common to have eye movement when trying to remember something or thinking about something enetnsly.
I know too much and question everything.
Does anyone know the minimum safe distance of ignorance?
Did anyone ask the monkeys how much fun the barrel actually was?

My eyes are always moving.

This is true. However like others have said, your eyes move a bit more when you're processing thoughts. For me I also notice a difference once I've locked onto what I would like my mind to pay full attention to rather than searching what to think about.
