I wholly support people burning the American flag in protest. I think it is their right. When I was younger, people burning the U.S. flag sometimes got their asses kicked for them. I do not support kicking the asses of people expressing their 1st Amendment Rights, however, it happens. For some people like myself, the U.S. flag represents a symbol that should not ever, never be disrespected, and so I cannot fault them for taking stern measure against people who wish to sully it.
I can only tell you that I wouldn't allow it to be done in my presence. I would likely be forced to break the law.
Most of the speech/expression I’ve defended, has been the type I’ve never used myself.
I’m a boring person who mostly goes to work and minds my own business. Hell, I don’t even like hyperbole outside of joking.
Not even sure I’d burn any flag, much less my own nations… I just don’t see the effectiveness of it. I think it just pisses people off no matter what the flag is. Not like you’re going to win hearts and minds by doing something knowing you’re going to stir up controversy.

I've drawn picture of Mohamed and Allah JUST to exercise my free speech and to DARE people who said I should not.
So it'd be hypocritical of me to against those who burn the USA flag.
I can say they are weak-ass douchewads, but that is my right.
Just like the morons who were critical of me to blaspheme Islam.

This Democrat gets the weirdness of it ....
Charlamagne tha god Argues Flag Burners Don't Give Damn About America
Quote:....Charlamagne said. "But it's just wild to burn the flag, but then use the Constitution to say you can burn the flag. Because burning the flag means you don't give a damn about America. So if you don't give a damn about America, you shouldn't care about the Constitution, either!" ...
"I'm not agreeing with what the president is doing," Charlamagne said. "I'm just simply saying, ‘Let's look at all sides of it,’ because the American flag represents a symbol of freedom, and we want this country to uphold that freedom that it promises. So, it's just weird to burn the flag, but then still point to the Constitution, democracy, and freedom, and say, ‘That's what we want.’"

Ya well he can go fucking read a book and understand context.
The underground Railroad wasn't exactly a very openly accepted move at the time now was it? And that led ( with other things) directly to a constitutional amendment. That all was in itself a form of protesting. And action is protesting when non violent.
Maybe he should fucking read up more then maybe he wouldn't run his mouth about shit he doesn't understand.

Protesting

Yeah! The Declaration of Independence was a freaking protest. It enumerated grievances that the King refused to address.
I don't think many in this thread understand what protest is. It's pretty much when the 1st Amendment right "to petition the Government for a redress of grievances" is ignored by the government. When the pleas of the constituents are ignored because the lobbyists and corporations have the money. Money talks and near silenced constituents can pound sand.
That's when protests happen. The comfortable people who think everything is going as it should be have nothing to protest. They think protesters are simple malcontents and troublemakers.
The corporate media is like "well it seems that dozens of protesters have shown up" not mentioning how many dozens, like freaking 300 dozens. Bought off or afraid of the powerful to report reality.
I was looking and looking for a good protest song. Found one on Youtube posted July 31, only 1 subscriber, 89 views. Maybe it needs a bit more exposure.

He did finish high school after getting out of jail.
three time loser for drug dealing.
Just because a person deserves a 4th chance doesn't make him an expert on stuff.

The no burn a flag is all about do not burn a flag to incite violence. Pretty simple reasoning once all the hate points are removed.
I envision during a Palestine/Mexican flag waving protest where the America flag is soiled and burned or just about anyplace where opposing sides meet and the gauntlet of "Hey M.F. watch this" is instituted just to piss the opposition off......While knowing fist or worse are soon to follow the flag burning ....
So burn a flag in the privacy of your own home, bed, back yard, or where ever and may God bless and forgive your little sick black heart for the disrespect you are showing to all who fought and died for that symbol of our nation.. Maybe God will forgive but there are others who will not.

Just like the morons who were critical of me to blaspheme Islam. My 12-year-old boy did that in school, don't even get me started on the trouble it caused.
The kicker was when we went down to the school to sort out the mess.
The person dealing with the "issue" turned out to be both the R.E. and Science teacher.
Talk about a conflict of interest.
I don't think she was too chuffed when I pointed that out.
He didn't even draw Mohamed, just drew a dot and said, "Well, that could be Mohamed," during a discussion in R.E.
Still landed him in bother.
Good lad as well, gold achiever, picks up awards for most subjects, and is a star pupil (completely the opposite of me at school).
It was all sorted out in the end once we threatened to put it all over social media and contact our local councillor.
But at the start, the crazy, mixed-up teacher wanted him suspended for a week.
And the real reason the headteacher didn't go through with it, I'm inclined to believe, is because he didn't want that sort of attention brought down on the school.
All the lad was doing was pointing out the madness and hypocrisy of it all.
"Yet so it is, we see the illiterate bulk of mankind that walk the high-road of plain common sense, and are governed by the dictates of nature, for the most part easy and undisturbed. To them nothing that is familiar appears unaccountable or difficult to comprehend."
