Living here they are so unhappy with the country that they want to tear it down and burn it up.
Destroy it.
Common sense says ... if you are that unhappy then leave.

But you dont necessarily need to be happy to live somewhere, that's just not how circumstance works. 

They have as much right to be unhappy or discontent and reside where they please.

The man was destroying a flag, not your nation, and for a symbolic purpose, not out of spite or hatred for his country. 

Common sense says i wonder why he is doing that?

Like I said ... the flag burners can express themselves and burn the flag ... but they are idiots.  They call for the destruction of the country that they freely live in and are protected in.   Self destructive morons.  If they are so unhappy that they want to destroy the country (and that's what burning the flag means ... they want to tear it all down and burn it up), then they should just leave.   It would make themselves and everyone else happier.

But are they really calling "for the destruction of the country", 

Or are they calling for the "destruction" (ie. "end", or change/restoration) of the Government which they perceive as no longer provides for their freedom and protection?

And you are saying that, not him.

Flag burning is protected by free speech.

It's not illegal nor inherently a call to violence or destruction of the country.

And by the looks of it, you are also now hoping people will leave your nation because you interpret them thinking differently from you, or displaying discontent, to be somehow wrong.

That's a very slippery slope.

The vast majority of people would not wish to see 20-year veterans arrested for mere peaceful protest.

And if they do, then you now live in nazi America.

Hopefully, that is never the case.
