Wouldn't it be interesting if people in a particular place could choose to ally themselves with whatever country they liked.

Imagine one neighbor being allied with Switzerland and another with Hawaii just because they wanted, and a third neighbor choosing to be totally unallied.

I'm surprised that nobody has posted this in the thread yet. A popular song that was allegedly written at the time as a protest against the mindset:

Also, the USA lost against Algeria between 1785-1795 (and had to pay reparations):

And British North America (Canada) in 1812-1815 (where they gained no territory at all):

War of 1812 - Wikipedia

And Formosa in 1867 (a whole nation, vs. basically a single tribe, and guess who lost?):

Formosa Expedition - Wikipedia

And Korea:

Korean War - Wikipedia

I also am fairly sure the USA went to war against themselves. They 1/2 lost that one, too. LOL.

Really?

Grenada is currently an independent sovereign state.

Perhaps it was so 'consequential' that the US just forgot that they had even fought for it?

Same with Venezuela, Cuba, nearly all of the Caribbean countries and over 50 other locations around the world where the US has fought, but eventually just seem to have given-up after achieving nothing?

Hardly 'wins', eh?

It's also surprising how many casualties of 'police actions' have occurred, even within their own borders, and when they were supposedly at peace, in 'protecting their people'?

Yes, thanks to the magnificent US victory over the mighty Grenadian Armed Forces in 1983.

The USA, spreading Freedom worldwide since 1776.

But Grenada still has has the same political system/regime as before the US attacked?

"It was Grenades for Grenada, you say tomata", a modern reinterpretation of the musical "Springtime for Hitler" by the Portsmouth Synphonia and the women of the Batley Townswomens' Guild!
