Great to see this board is online in a new form. Found it mentioned on Reddit when checking on whether ATS was gone forever. The lack of postwhores, annoying ads and trolling nutwhacks makes this site better than the last one. I also like the more standard layout. All the categories are still there. Missing the "New Threads" sortie that shows all the topics over the whole domain listed in the order they were created. I didn't receive my confirmation email, using Outlook, but obviously I am permitted to post now 24 hours after I joined. If you have personal questions you can ask them of me here. Good day!

Welcome. What do you consider postwhores? And so I was wondering where all the traffic to this site was coming from, so it's Reddit, is it?

On ATS there was a large number of mindless posters that would make reading serious discussions more work than it was worth.
It could be that Reddit has sent some over but there really isn't much there about this site, I found it mentioned in a reply to an ATS topic and there isn't many of those either.

Why are you monitoring the traffic to this site? Have you found anything interesting about the traffic coming to this site that is thread worthy?

The only reason I noticed is one day it basically jumped from the 2,000s to the mid 4,000s then climbed all the way to the 10,000s and now it seems to have stabilized in the 6,000s. Just watching the numbers fluctuate and wondering why.

Part of it was the "anonymous" option where you can post without logging in or creating a profile, but there at the end there was a lot of trolling and postwhoring from people who obviously were trying to make the site displeasing to use. They were derailing topics and flooding the stream with junk so that when the moderating was at a minimum the long-term members were creating far less fascinating discussions and optioned for plain news stories instead. ATS fully lost whatever it had back in the day.
Reality is better than a dream.

Because unlike Reddit, we have great Mods that let us have adult discussions that may get a little spicy, but no one is guarding the gates of free speech and opinions. Again, unlike Reddit, if someone can't keep up and gets their feelz hurt, Mods don't step in to save their ass from the butthurt.
Some people like that freedom.
Some people are looking for a safe space to whine. This ain't it.

I don't visit Reddit, so are you saying the Mods at Reddit do not step in when everything devolves into chaos which defeats the purpose of any civil discourse? If that's the case I'll stay away from Reddit.

I read some things there, I am not a member or even posted there. It's just a free for all whine fest. From what I've seen, it doesn't have to devolve, just say something that the Mods have a differing personal opinion about and they'll ban you.
From what I've seen, butthurt and feelz rule the day, logic and facts be damned.
