Biden Gives Pope Francis Medal Of Freedom
#1
https://www.vaticannews.va/en/pope/news/...eedom.html

Biden gave the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Hillary.
Biden gave the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Soros.
Now Biden gives the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Pope Francis.

Pope Francis.
Anti-borders.  Anti-America.   Anti-Free-Market.  Anti-Catholic.

The medal is forever tarnished.
He couldn't have picked worse (Anti-American) people to award them to.

I have to say, the "use" of the Presidential Medal of Freedom in this manner is quite disturbing...

But then, such honors 'for show' are often corrupted into a political tool... akin to 'virtue signaling social currency.'

As usual, those who may have deserved and received such recognition are now robbed of the honor...

Perhaps the recipients you cite "bought" the medal... (ahem.)

I apologize if this is considered off-topic, but I gather you're a practicing Catholic, and have been wanting to ask you or others...

What was the deal on the Vatican ritual around Christmas 'opening portals' to hear the confessions of demons.

Was that weird? Was that normal?

I found it kinda freaky, but maybe it's just something I don't understand about it.

I've been catholic my whole life.
Prayed the rosary nearly every day for 35 years.
Practice Fatima First Saturday devotions.
Was a Third Order Carmelite for 10 years.
Studied at a Franciscan Monastery weekends for 9 years.
Bookshelves full of Catholic books I've read about the saints and the church.
Married to a Catholic who is all of those things and who is still a Third Order Carmelite.

I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING.

If there was such a thing, I think I would have heard it by  now.

Now ... could it be that you are talking about the opening of the Holy Doors in Rome?  The Jubilee Doors?

Jubilee Doors are a set of doors that are in Rome, and in certain Cathedrals around the world, that have a plenary indulgence attached to them.  In Jubilee Years, the pope and bishops bless these doors and place them in certain cathedrals.   Catholics are invited to walk through the doors as a sign of commitment to God and renewal of faith, and go to confession and mass, and gain an indulgence.

Those are the only doors I know about in Catholicism.

Also .... Demons are proud of their sins and hate towards God.  They would boast of them ... not 'confess' them and apologize.  To think that they would is theologically wrong.

I did a quick search and it was some symbolic gesture of 'opening a holy door at a prison' as part of the jubilee? Maybe I'm not understanding even that far.

I am guessing secular sources and media just saw that part and went nuts with it. One example already I kept seeing media use the term "portals" instead of doors.

What would that mean though? Opening a symbolic door to a prison? Is this a common ceremony?

Thanks in advance for your answers and information. I find the ceremonies and rituals of Catholicism fascinating, I just don't understand a lot about it.

Catholicism sounds cool something I always wanted learn about, it's just a bit daunting though.

The Jubilee Doors sounds wonderful, must be an amazing experience.  I grew up in reformed communities where they abounded all the rituals.
