Now Austria wants to join NATO.

"The Kremlin is finding it increasingly difficult to continue its war against Ukraine for several reasons, including heavy losses and a catastrophic economic situation, states Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger.  "One thing is clear: Ukraine wants peace, but Russia does not. Frankly, Austria's decision to join NATO is more important than some might think...
Speaking from a strictly strategic perspective.

NATO lacks credibility anymore (perhaps it's a generational thing.)...

For many younger members, I thought, it rings true that NATO is, proportionally speaking,
a bottomless money pit... which doesn't pursue peace, only war, 
a tailor-made money hole specifically for the US.
