Winter storms in suburbia is OK for a day or 2, but if Im in the mountains and prepared, I love it

I like watching it unfold, and Ive always loved those heavy overnight snows then going out early in the morning. its so quiet, peaceful, a change a pace.

Then by a day or 2 its just a big hassle, work is backed up, and our routine is busted

I started listening to Max Velocity during the last couple of hurricane seasons and now listen to his winter content, as well as Mike's Weather Page and Windy.com. Its just a better format for me, the local guys and TWC are just blah

Our local stations get too hyped too early with maybes, and it could, and in the end, it mostly fizzles. Which is good for us, we have too much other stuff happening.

Besides, prolonged bad weather kills our business throughout our region. In western Carolina, one of our best clients has just now gotten ready to reopen from the last hurricane and it's aftermath. This will push all of that back weeks for them.

This sounds like his latest update

Just back from the stores.
LOTS of people in the stores for 8:00 AM on a Thursday.
Talked to the checkout lady who I usually go to.
She said the crowds started yesterday.

Couldn't find bananas.  All sold out.
Had to go to other store to get them.

Stock boys were talking.  They said everyone is going to get
scared and come in to buy, but then on Sunday the weather
service will probably say 'ooops, never mind' and nothing will
happen.  I laughed because half the time that's exactly
what happens.   Lol

I don’t like winter and have enjoyed the mild weather since Christmas.  Unfortunately my Butterfly bush and Blueberry bush think it’s spring and have started getting leaves.

They had us at 14-24 inches of snow at one point.
Now it's 11-20 inches of snow with ice mixed in.
I'm sure they'll keep adjusting as it gets closer.
All the chatter in the weather forums is about how big the storm is.
It covers a lot of land.   And all the big cities in the East.
It'll be a mess.

I hope everyone is stocked up on Ho-Hos, Whoppers, and Cherry Pepsi.

Gonna be cold outside!

I’m used to getting out every day for some errand or another and I get cabin fever after a few days of not being able to.  I’m planning on working on an antique bed that’s been sitting in the attic for over 20 years.  It’s in good shape but needs some work on the side rails.  I ordered some braces before Christmas and I am going to attempt to bring it downstairs and get it secured enough to order a mattress after this weather passes through.
