Average day
#1
Most people would find my daily life boring and repetitive. They think the goal in life is to retire and have nothing to do all day, but unless you have the money to travel and see the world, it can get a bit boring...or so you'd think. There are some of us who actually like boring. It means peace and quiet. No schedule, no drama, nothing to HAVE to do except what we want.

My normal day in the Summer looks like :
Get up around 3, get coffee, light first cigarette, check out several news sites to see if the world has ended while I was asleep.
Get more coffee.
Check out the forums to see what the news sites missed and get the real story.
By now it's about 5:30, so let the dogs out, get more coffee and my tablet, go out to the front porch and watch the sunrise. Maybe { probably } light a cigar.
Now come the big decisions.
Does the yard need mowing ?
Yes - mow yard. That takes about 3 - 4 hours, so that's something to do till noon.
No - grab tackle and head out for the river or lake. Bass or Crappie I head for the lake. Catfish I go to the river.
Do I have a "honey do list" ?
Yes - grab tackle and run before she wakes up. Leave cellphone at home accidentally.
No - grab tackle and run anyway because she'll FIND something that needs fixing or she'll want to go shopping and I'd rather brave the rattlesnakes, chiggers and ticks than go shopping.

Fish till noon.

Did we catch anything ?
Yes - clean fish. We're having fish for supper.
No - decide what we're having for supper and do I need to fire up the grill.
If yes, light charcoal, drink a beer and have a cigar while waiting.
No - drink beer and have a cigar anyway.

Alternate choice on gloomy days when it rains off and on - grab guns, head for the range.

Repeat with slight variations.

Exactly.   I like it when it's boring.

My husband has Parkinsons and is 'Lewy Body Dementia Suspect'.   So I know that in the future my life won't be boring, it's going to be filled up with taking care of him and having to watch him and things associated with that.  So for now, he and I are enjoying the 'boring'.

Cigars and fishing, eh?

I can think of worse existences.  Thumbup
"Yet so it is, we see the illiterate bulk of mankind that walk the high-road of plain common sense, and are governed by the dictates of nature, for the most part easy and undisturbed. To them nothing that is familiar appears unaccountable or difficult to comprehend."

You get up around 3 !?!

What time do you go to bed/sleep ?

As a night owl, this schedule blows my mind!

Usually around 10, then read till I get sleepy, which takes anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, so I probably don't actually go to sleep till about 11.

Crikey me, I'd be so sleepy!!  At a weekend, I like to go to bed around 2/3am and sleep until 10:30am but my work dictates that I get up at 7am during the week so I try and get to sleep 12:30/1am but I really struggle to wake up every day!!

Wow I wish I could sleep like you do. I am up daily at 4:30AM when the wife gets up to get ready for work.  Then I interact  with our new kitty that has the ZOOMIES.  It takes forever to tire him out; playing fetch

I get about 4 hours a night, but I've had insomnia for years so I'm used to it.

You never get one kitten, you get 2 so they can keep each other busy.

My wife tried that theory with dogs, so we just have 2 very needy and clingy dogs that ignore each other 99% of the time.....and now a very needy and clingy cat lol

Only upside is he bullies the dogs most of the time, so I guess that is something

Nothing at all wrong with having a nice routine like that. You earned it. You sure do get up early. For nine months out of the year, during school, I'm up at 6 AM, and to bed by 10 PM. The other three months, I turn into a night owl, stay up till midnight or 1 AM, and get up around 9 AM. I only work very part time because I want to, not because I have to. It gets me out of the house, gets me exercise, fresh air, and sunshine.
