In my opinion, the political rhetoric Trump uses does seem to attract people who want to assassinate him. He has a habit of firing up both sides of the political spectrum.

I see that as more of a "them" problem, not a him problem. Almost every president does this to one extent or the other. Now, does Trump do it bigger and better than all of them, yes. but I don't think that is what draws people to do what they attempt to do. 

I feel the rhetoric that is pushed about Trump is more dangerous for him than the rhetoric he pushes. But that is just my opinion on the matter

I think it's both, Trump has a knack of demonising and de-humanizing his 'enemies' which is a common tactic used by those in power, and in the same breath the 'opposition' have now stooped to the same level and use similar derogatory terms.

I think Trump likes to use the type of language a WWE wrestler would use to help rile up an audience, I think this can give the impression of 'hate speech' or smearing. Sadly, It's now becoming the political language 'go to' for many politicians.
