Holy shit, the clock on the wall and time of day agree finally...

"Abolitionist organizing" is almost always within a greater socialist or anticapitalist movement. While not all abolitionists are socialists, modern abolitionism is all about dismantling state mechanisms that protect property rights. Fits so far.

gtfoice.org is definitely an example of the hybrid of abolitionist organizing and socialism, as it focuses on taking down law and order infrastructure and disrupting the for-profit prison Industrial Complex model, which a vast majority of detention facilities are part of.

So while that's what it technically is, I really doubt the people signing up see it beyond "stopping Trump or ending cruelty," and they may not even realize how it's a socialist-entwined movement to begin with.

This could still become a new blacklist of sorts.

Like the blacklist I'm already on for being a veteran, a libertarian, and a Christian?
You must develop the ability to be disliked in order to free yourself from the prison of other people's opinions.

No worries.... I think the FBI burned those lists last year.

But yup... The culture of Biden and memos to look at the overzealous Trump-supporter has sure bore some bitter fruit for us all.

Law of retribution politics is a status quo.  So, it's also a blacklist to avenge the previous blackists in many ways, and more directly probably the 4500 ICE agents doxxed in January.

I assumed this was legitimate. Seemed like something that would happen.

But apart from the site being "under construction" (which could have always been that way) and an AI search leading to Reddit, Facebook, X, and Instagram as sources forcthis, I cant find any truth to it either.

Be careful with social media posts...

What good is a data breach if you cant find proof of the breach...

Link to a very long thread on Reddit about it.

Quote: An apparent data breach may have compromised user information submitted to GTFOice, a newly launched platform designed to organize opposition to proposed ICE detention facilities across the United States. The situation is still developing, but early signs point to a serious security failure involving sensitive user data.

Three days ago, we signed up on the platform using multiple email addresses and phone numbers across several locations listed on the site, including Hagerstown and Williamsport, Maryland, as well as Salt Lake City. No confirmation emails or texts were received at the time of signup.

That changed this morning.

One of the phone numbers used during signup received a text message claiming that user data submitted to GTFOice had been forwarded to federal authorities, including the FBI, HSI, and ICE. The message also included inflammatory claims about the individuals behind the project. We responded to the message but received no reply.

Shortly after, the GTFOice website appeared to acknowledge an issue. Around 6 p.m. Eastern, the site displayed a notice stating that signups were temporarily paused while a security review was completed. Within roughly twenty minutes, that message was removed and replaced with a generic “under construction”

The open back door is not a mistake.
However it is anyone's guess why a former DHS Chief would create such an vulnerable data base.

@ReturnofBroccoli
Are those screen shots from Blue Sky?

Security sites have picked up the story.

The platform, found at
Code:
GTFOICE.org
, was meant to be a tool for people to organise against immigration detention centres. However, it allegedly failed to protect the personal details of every person who signed up.
Quote:the website’s database was connected to the internet without a password or any authentication to block unauthorized users.
Another issue is that the site lacked rate limiting, which basically stops a single user from making thousands of requests at once. In its absence, any hacker or other threat actor could download the entire list of users in seconds, including names, email addresses, phone numbers, ZIP codes, and signup timestamps for 17,662 people.
