I was looking for a car that I like, but everything has big screens, glitchy engines and hybrid drives. Some even have goofball transmissions, but generally none are reliable.
So instead of penny-pinching and faith in brand loyalty, I "did the opposite" and went with a car that is about excitement....for real though. Hard to get excited about a CRV, but without spending a ton of money, I got an Italian SUV.
The only other car I liked is the new Benz GLC Coupe, but it has a few things going against it. Those same things, the Stelvio is, in essence, the opposite.
I took the advice of car gurus who say the V6 is the absolute best SUV on Earth. Mine has a corporate FCA engine, the 2.0 engine in Jeep that people actually like. My engine recycler says is "better than it needs to be". Usually I'm the one giving advice. Again, it's not about a discount or how big the screen is, nor the residual value after lease....no. I could have bought a nice used one for peanuts, and knowing what I do now, would have considered it.
I'm trying to get out of the habit of switching cars all the time. A mixed blessing is my wife gladly takes my leftovers, but that makes it TOO easy for me! My solution was buying an extended warranty for $3000 out to 6yr/75k. I was greasing the deal a bit because my trade was rough.
Anyway, it's awesome. I put black 18" wheels on today. I figure, once you settle on a compact SUV is the right place to spend some money, how can you get a vehicle in the category that is interesting AT ALL? I had a new 2022 Q5, I didn't like it, sold with about 5000 miles in 2 years. I LIKE this better....
I actually did do some research, resale in Europe is quite good, and....
It reminds me a lot of Benz.

Congratulations on your new purchase. As a foot note I have owned the Mercedes 2 seat coup convertible (106,000$ back in 2006) and a 540 IL BMW car and all I can say is never again especially after they switched to electronic everything. Frigging engine on the new BMW quit 3 times !! Oh but sir it is just the engine circuit board... without warranty each time would have cost around $1300. The first computer glitch with the Mercedes-Benz I got cash and a brand new blood red Corvette for that POS ! Now we drive a Hyundai and a Mazda which seems for us to never have a problem with either one. BMW golf tournaments I ride with a friend to play or don't go !! hahaha

Hold up.
They have Dodge, Chevy, Jeep and A F**KING KIA as more reliable than Toyota, when Toyota has been at the top for years.
You know JD Power is a marketing firm, right ?
Companies pay BIG money to use their ratings as advertisement for their vehicles, so......

Congrats on your new car. I'm also in the market and looked at both the Stelvio and Guilia. Alfa has come a long way in terms of dependability and reliability.
I've got my eye on the new Lexus IS 350 which should be arriving at the dealers this month.

Looks nice, it will be cool if the doorcards has some matching red trim.
For as sedate as a lot of modern cars is, I think is a nice buy.
I was not here.

I don't like SUVs as a rule. Had a Ford Kuga as a courtesy car and it was like driving a van.
But that looks nice - love the red leather!
'l'll just check my Giveashitometer....Nope. Nothing...

The red half dash and door cards are nice, but it's in the exclusive models. At least I didnt' pay an extra $6000 for a Benz Designio interior!
I don't have body painted rockers or wheel arches either. It doesnt' bother me, kind of an allroad look.

My friend has your same car with the Q4 and it’s great in snow here in Michigan.
Be kind to everyone!

Thinking in terms of "Covid cars" and everything post-covid being troublesome. The Stelvio is "the opposite", a pre-covid car that was built last month. The "dated" tech is it's charm. We are already used to the old Dick Tracy style media screens and control knob, I didnt' even realize it's *also* touch screen, lol.
Difference here too, is I told myself in advance that Id be accepting of quirks and gripes, it is what it is. All I need is good interior space w/o intrusive consoles, I HATE them.
