This guy and his wife look honest enough so what happened he had been going to the same restaurant for years like decades, knew the workers and the owners ,and when he goes the last time he sees new people running the place they tell him that they have been running the place for the last seventeen years and he does not know any of them, this is a weird one.

The many worlds interpretation has some merit with quantum mechanics suggesting every quantum event splits reality into multiple coexisting branches.

And the idea of parallel universes is based on actual physics, which, granted, is still of a theoretical sorts.

Real evidence through remains to be seen.

That is indeed a strange story... it does sound like something out of the Twilight Zone. There are a few possible explanations, especially considering he mentioned serious health problems and surgery.

 Thats a very interesting comment, I have often wondered since hearing a quote by someone I think it was Tesla that said "This is the afterlife" Is it plausible that when you think that you die you jump a timeline. I have had a few close shaves where I shouldn't be alive and I have read of people who have died and come back, did they just jump a timeline? We observe death but never experience it , Could he have had a bad illness and jumped a timeline it is more of a suspicion That if what we are actually experiencing is the stuff of consciousness in an infinity i guess anything could happen but with a bias to keep it coherent and linear for the sake of rationality.

Same here... I've been through moments that felt like exits, they never closed behind me, just... changed. 
But here we are.
