5 Iranian Woman Soccer Players Granted Asylum in Australia

TV news reporting that 4 of the 5 soccer players in Australia have decided to go back to Iran.  They are citing the reason as that their families are in danger and have been taken into custody because they (the soccer players) decided to stay in Australia.   So to save their families they are going back.   

Of course, when they get back to Iran, they themselves will be arrested and put in prison and/or killed.

Tragic ending.   Only one soccer player is staying in Australia safe and free.

What TV news is giving that reason? Did they actually interview the women and we can see the women speak those reasons? Too much propaganda flying around.

According to Tina Kordrostami, a councilor for the Australian City of Ryde. 

"They are heavily intimidated and being communicated to directly by the regime," Kordrostami said. 

 When asked if the players are being threatened, Kordrostami said, "I don't think that, I know that.

"I know families have even been detained. I know family members are missing. One thing I really would like for people in the West to understand is that Iranians within the country have in many ways given up on the West, and they are only relying on one another to survive this regime. 

 
"So, when we do offer them a way out, it's not often that easy for them to understand that it is in fact a way out. They are more so used to relying on one another and this is survival for them."

That was expected by everyone that knows how a dictatorship works, you cannot leave (or do something you shouldn't publicly) without affecting you family and friends, everyone is guilty by association.

YEP.   It's no surprise that the Iranian government stole family members and threatened them.  As soon as the woman soccer players left, you just knew that was what Iran would do to the family members to get the players to recant and go back to Iran.   They were probably told that they would be fine by the Iranian government if t hey went back, but you know they are going to be treated horribly.   If they survive at all.

It's how Iran works.

Logic has it that these soccer players would indeed be praised for deciding to return home, it makes Iran look good.

Why would Iranian officials not be flattered that the women want to return home and give up such wondrous freedom and promises from the West?

 You are kidding, right?  Those women rejected Iran and only went back because their families were threatened, which we all knew was going to happen.   The government of Iran isn't going to be 'flattered' that the women fell to threats and intimidation practices which the government of Iran widely engages in.

There is no proof of that and the women said those trying to 'help' them were actually manipulating them.

Well maybe not flattered, but the women wanting to return may play into how they want the world to see them.

It already has.
They chose to leave Iran and have freedom.
They were intimidated and threatened into returning.
And they will meet with trouble in Iran.
The government and clerics don't take kindly to be shown as 
the assholes that they are.   
The first thing those women did was take off their hijabs for 
pictures.   Now they are forced back to wearing them.
They are slaves to the government and the clerics.
They are already harmed.
