i haven't read the exact contract but it's even worse than that...
the bonus is payed out in segments, per year
that gross amount gets taxed and they only get to keep a portion
but if they leave before the 5 years, there's a claw-back clause
and they have to pay back the entire gross amount

you'd think law enforcement officers would be more familiar with "handcuffs"!

Most government sign on bonus are segmented and paid out per year. Its to stop people from taking it and not fulfilling their contractual obligations. Its very common.

yeah that bit is common true but i've not seen anything like that clawback that's described... usually the segmentation alone is considered sufficient. otherwise why not pay the whole thing out up front? and having to pay back, say, $10K to the govmt when you've received $10K but had to pay $2K of it in govmt taxes already, thats more a penalty clause.

You are correct and I, too, have seen nothing like that clawback, if it's actually in the legitimate contract to begin with, as I have not personally read it.

I agree that Trump is not very bright, but I firmly believe he played a role in this situation. He has a reputation for conning individuals and leaving them high and dry after completing his objectives; this is just how he operates.

Thats very interesting. I tried following your link, and I wasn't able to find any more info on what you had posted.

It makes me curious why law enforcement hasn't done more to go after these groups that are instigating violence. Unless that is the affect the government is looking for in order to push there agenda. In which case it would implicate themselves in the use of paid protesters to promote there own agenda.
