it amuses me what an alien mindset it portrays contrasted to todays climate

and perhaps something to aspire to not seeming ironic

as for the political aspect

you can compromise all you want if you like

and perhaps you will lose less

but i believe the path to winning is one of principals and the integrity to stick to them regardless of the games of political calculation

and the clearest principal that the right can have on its side is the rule of law

it is sticking to principals that changes the political calculations, instead of bending to them
