"You shall be called by a new name"

Something to think about ...

"You shall be called by a new name

bestowed by the mouth of the LORD." Is 62:2
"To the victor I shall give some of the hidden manna; I shall also give a white [stone] upon which is inscribed a new name, which no one knows except the one who receives it." Rev 2:17

When we are born, our Earthly parents give us a name for us to use on Earth.  But apparently when we die, we are given a new name in the afterlife.  A name that corresponds to our true selves.  It is our 'forever' name.  It describes who we are, probably using expanded words and language that we don't know here on earth.

In the bible, God changed peoples names when they were given a new mission by Him.
For example Abraham and Simon Peter.
When people are adopted they get new names.
Same with when people get married.

The afterlife will be new and what we do will be so different, I suppose having a new name that matches who our inner self really is would make sense.

I'm wondering what my name will be.
I guess it depends on what I do here on Earth during life, I suppose.

This was beautiful, wanted to thank you at the time but things happened.

It helped me when I needed it and also lead me to a breakthrough on one of my studies, so good stuff all round.

I somehow missed this...

The idea of this secret name got me thinking...  I understand that I won't know my true name until I can (truly) be my true self.

But I wonder how I'm going to find my wife, if I don't know her true name.  I mean, I never really 'could' know, in life (nor could she.)

How will I find her, I wonder?  Will she really want me to?

I'm sure the biblical context is for a more grandiose characters than I, but it's the little things that worry me; after all, I'm one of them.

I wouldn’t worry much about it.  We will have glorified bodies and our brain will be different as far as how we think now.  Also contrary to some religions, we wont be married in heaven but we won’t be upset or sad about it.

We will know everyone tho.  Example is the three disciples recognizing Moses and Elijah on the mountain of transfiguration.  They were born close to a thousand years before them yet they knew who they were.  Lol it’s not like they had photos in 1AD yet they instantly knew who they were.

Jesus Christ was the first prototype, if you will, of our new bodies.  After the resurrection he actually ate with the disciples so we will eat in heaven.  He did refuse wine because he said that he would wait until he returned to his father’s house.  So looks like we will have wine which is great!

My husband and I have been having this discussion.

We both have health issues so we have been 'planning' for when we are separated by death.
We know we are going to look different and we will have new 'true self known only to God at this time' names ...
So we agreed to meet up in a certain place if we can, and we agreed that if there is reincarnation that we
have already committed to each other to be married in that next life as well.  We agreed.  It's binding.

From what I've read from Near Death Experiences, even though people appear differently 'on the other side',
appear like 'light beings' or appear as young people when they were old etc etc .. you instantly recognize
who they really are.  You know them more intimately and it's more 'real' once the bodies are dropped ....
So if that turns out to be true ... you and I should be able to find our spouses 'on the other side' just fine.

My husband is my soul mate.  I can't imagine eternity without him.  That would be awful.
