Can it be the mob was hired to create them both and put them in "trad" homes, perhaps even resorting to baby switching in the maternity ward, then guided them to grow up to be the people they are? Not that I have hard evidence that the mob is involved in rock & roll or modeling or baby switching.
If it were so, it would probably be the work of a faction rather than the entire left. The left knows the point of the '60s revolution is to cheat on exams. They would probably view it as tasteless for one faction to grab as much glory for itself as it could and would want leaders to be agreed upon. Their people also know all the tricks.
That leaves conservatives. If most conservatives are sincere Christians and live their lives saved, many of them may not even be aware of the power of sin and soul theft. A faction could target conservatives in order to glorify itself by using islamic-style rapport to give one of their people all the answers they need to look cool.
Even more hypothetical, but what if whoever was doing this, realized that a few people were getting wise and might start praying for and saving a person who was being unfairly helped? They might try to program a spiritually unwary hitman so their guy went out a martyr instead of losing his unfair help and winding up defeated and exposed. Hypothetically speaking of course.
