What strange food pairings do you like?
What is popular in your country that everyone else thinks is strange?
In Canada, they put cheese and gravy on French fries
And in Belgium they just spray mayonnaise right on it!
In Connecticut they put potatoes on pizza
And in Asia I've heard they will load corn and egg on there too
I haven't tried that.
In England they put butter on sandwiches
Just slabs of the stuff smeared right on, not even melted
In Cincinnati they will serve spaghetti with chili on top
You do you Cincinnati!
What do you like?
What did you think was weird until you tried it?

Oh I forgot one!
In the South USA they will put gravy on scones! Meat gravy, with sausage bits in it. It is actually quite delicious!

Rochester, NY: Garbage Plate (Nick Tahou Hots). The original drunk food. It includes Fries, macaroni salad, baked beans, and Zweigles white or red hot sausages all covered in a spicy thousand island type sauce. Goes great with Genesee Cream Ale.
And one I heard about from Iowa was Chili served with Cinnamon rolls. That seems like just the wrong mix of tastes and textures.
American County Fair food is generally the best at creating interesting combos. Because its just an experimentation in saturated fat per gram of food and what the highest possible value for that to be. Take any two ingredients, and deep fry the hell out of it. .

It's called biscuits and gravy. It is delicious.

I had a wife one time. She was from New England.
She turned me on to Fluffernutter sandwich.
I'm a big fan of peanut butter. Usually just dunked in milk.
My sister in law got me to try peanut butter and mustard sandwich.
I remember that it wasn't bad, but I don't remember what it tasted like.
I'm going to go make one.

I have had "funnel cake". It is a pairing of dough and diabetes!
Wonderful!

That is with the marshmallow fluff. It is also good with banana slices added to it!
It you add bacon too, I think that is the "Full Elvis"!
Let us know how the peanut butter + mustard turns out. That is a brave combo! I have also heard of a peanut butter and mayonnaise sandwich. I do not think that would be good.

Oh yeah, peanut butter and banana. I usually go pb+honey+banana. Never tried banana on the fluffernutter though.
PB and mustard, not bad. I'll have to remember that if honey or jelly runs out, I don't have to run out for more if there's mustard.
I'll go try the mayonnaise now.
The PB+mayonnaise doesn't have any thing to recommend. Butter goes more naturally with peanut butter than mayo does.

The deep fryer is the fruit of the fair. You can deep fry anything. There's deep-fried donut cheeseburgers, deep-fried beer, deep-fried chocolate covered bacon, deep-fried watermelon, there's umm, Deep-fried jello, Deep-fried butter, deep-fried smores, deep-fried lattes, deep-fried Coca-Cola, deep-fried aligator on a stick, deep-fried ice cream, deep-fried pickles, deep-fried twinkie, deep-fried twinkie hotdogs, deep-fried jelly beans, deep-fried Kool-aid, deep-fried Kool-aid pickles, deep-fried hot beef sundae, deep-fried cookie dough, and deep-fried scorpions... that's ... thats about it.
I think that was more painful than funny, but whatever, i committed to the joke.

Ive always been a sandwich guy, grilled cheese, tomato sandwich, onion sandwich, the more elaborate
Thanksgiving leftover sandwich and various bagel sandwiches, but on the simple and weird side,
Pretty sure I mentioned this on ATS
Get whatever your favorite sandwich bread is... I prefer a sourdough or rye
Peanut butter, I prefer a good chunky brand,
healthy slice of onion, I prefer Vidalia, but a red onion's zing works well too
Slice of pineapple. I prefer fresh, but canned works in a pinch
A couple of slices of Virginia deli ham
Butter both sides and grill, and press a little...
I've substituted bacon before or have added it
They both work well, but there is something subtle about
The pineapple, onion, PB, and ham that meld together so well
Some people add a bit of mayo and do double layers, but I'd rather
Do two sandwiches with one later because the grilling works better and melts the PB
With a side of Vandy's beef tallow potato chips and a glass of milk.
His mind was not for rent to any god or government
Always hopeful yet discontent, knows changes aren't permanent
But change is
