Here’s what just went down — and it’s very interesting:

1. UK Maritime Trade issued a rare warning about rising tensions in the Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, and Gulf of Oman, citing potential military escalation that could directly affect shipping.

2. The US Embassy in Iraq is prepping for an ordered evacuation due to security threats.

3. The State Department is pulling nonessential staff and families from Bahrain and Kuwait.

5. Trump just said he’s feeling he won’t get a deal done with Iran.

It’s all coming together.

None of these moves came from Fleet Forces Command, meaning this likely came from the top, possibly the White House. Something serious is unfolding.

It used to be a great powerful place (in the Iranian's mind) until Genghis Khan came through and taught them a lesson after they slaughtered his trade delegation... He had his Mongol Horde burn cities and spare no one ..  By most accounts over 25% of the population was eliminated.

Anyone here ever been to Persia? What's it like?

Wondering because it's apparently pretty big, few million people, and there's next to nothing about what it's like inside in the Western media, popularly. 

There are a plethora of videos on Persia on youtube. One can see city nightlife, explore their cultural heritage  sites, see religious and sporting events. Just ask the tube what you want to see.
I found a couple of them.

Almost looks like regular people in a regular society.... probably just the capital though. The rural life probably looks a bit more primitive, just like most rural places anywhere else.

Remember a couple months back or so when we sent half of our stealth bombers to Diego Garcia. Could get pretty nasty over there. I have a friend who is stationed over there in Kuwait along with a young guy I worked with. They were only to be there 9 months. Now it is a year. They are in the guard. I hope they stay safe.

I follow the motor bike blogger "Itchy feet: When she went through Iran, she said they were the nicest people you could meet anywhere.
