I am writing this into a book. It’s a very small part, not the main part. Here is a teaser, but the info is accurate:

The roar of the Black Hawk’s rotors faded as Jacob Cruz stepped onto the packed dirt of a village clearing, deep in the Peruvian jungle. Three in-flight refuelings and twelve grueling hours after leaving Cartagena, his body ached from cat naps snatched in the chopper’s vibrating hull. He stretched, joints popping, and squinted at the dense green wall surrounding the village. “Peru?” he asked, glancing at Captain Tanaka, who stood beside him, her fatigues crisp despite the journey.
“Ikutu, that’s the Nanay River,” she replied, nodding toward the sluggish, brown waterway cutting through the bush. Her voice was clipped, all business, a far cry from the sultry tease of the rooftop bar last night. Before Jacob could press further, a village elder approached, his weathered face etched with worry. The villagers, armed with machetes and old rifles, were skittish, their eyes darting to Jacob. Several made the sign of the cross, muttering “pelacaras” under their breath. Face-peelers? Jacob’s brow furrowed. Cartels were brutal, sure, but peeling faces? That was new, even for narco territory.
The elder led them to a sagging porch where a girl, maybe fifteen, rocked back and forth, muttering to herself. Her eyes widened in terror when she saw Jacob, freezing like a deer in headlights. The elder spoke to her in a local dialect, his voice soothing but urgent. She nodded, turning to Tanaka, her words tumbling out in a shaky whisper.
“I was out back, gathering fruit from the trees,” she said. “I noticed the leaves first, rustling when there was no wind. I looked up, and there were two of them. Pelacaras, in black armor. Floating on boards that made no sound. One grabbed me, put cream on my face, started talking about peeling it. I screamed and struggled. My family came running, and they tried to fly off with me but dropped me, then flew away.”
“Which direction?” Tanaka asked, her tone sharp.
The girl pointed north, trembling. Tanaka turned to the elder, speaking rapidly in the same dialect, her words a blur to Jacob. After a tense exchange, she nodded. “Take a nap,” she told Jacob, already walking away. “We leave at 1500.”
Jacob mentally shrugged, too tired to argue. He found a shaded hammock strung between two palms, the jungle’s hum lulling him into a restless sleep. Hours later, Tanaka’s boot nudged his, jarring him awake. She tossed him an MRE—chicken teriyaki, cold and congealed. He wolfed it down without complaint, then followed her to a rickety boat provided by the elder. They glided up the Nanay, the water thick with silt, before disembarking into the jungle’s suffocating embrace.
“Pelacaras?” Jacob asked, unable to hold back his unease as they hacked through vines with machetes. The girl’s story gnawed at him—floating boards, black armor. It sounded insane.
“Local legend,” Tanaka replied, not looking back, her blade slicing with precision. “Someone’s using it as a cover.”
“Sounded like aliens,” Jacob said, forcing a nervous laugh. Floating boards? No way.
“Peruvian government hushed it up, blamed cartel miners with jetpacks. But jetpacks don’t fly that long, and they’re not whisper-quiet.”
“So you’re saying it was aliens?” Jacob’s confusion deepened. His 18B training—Special Forces Weapons Sergeant—dealt with real threats, not sci-fi.
“She peeled up one of their masks,” Tanaka said, her voice flat. “It’s in the briefing. They’re human. One spoke Spanish poorly, one with a local dialect. Not aliens.”
“Then how? Who has that tech?” Jacob pressed, his mind racing.
“Now you’re asking the right question,” she said, her tone sending a jolt through him. He remembered her body in that dress, the way she’d moved on the dance floor. A lump rose in his throat, his pulse quickening despite the jungle’s weight. He shook it off, focusing on her back as she led the way.

They should try a banana skin next, perhaps it reacts to minerals like potassium. Alchemy is a chore, I wouldn't bother distilling anything, just slap it on there and then try another fruit if nothing happens

How do they know if that sphere is not going to take off any moment and through the window back into the sky? I am puzzeled it is allowing to do all sort of experiments on it.
Them should be carefull, in other words... that thing might cause injuries)).
