To coin an appropriate phrase...
"Normal" is a dryer setting.
In society, normality is consensus-based, not metric... even if the statisticians like to think it is.
In a "normal" society... we all rot.

Variations don't necessarily have to be 'labeled' as a social indicator... that's a choice too.
