Bob, thanks for sharing this. I’ve only ever been involved with transporting nuclear weapons at sea during my time in the Navy (mid-‘80s to early-‘90s), aboard the USS Mauna Kea (AE-22). We moved mostly gravity bombs (B43, B57, B61), but sometimes also SUBROC, USMC 155mm nuclear projectiles, and ASROC nuclear depth charge warheads) from base to base, and ship to ship via underway replenishment. It’s cool to read about the other ways these weapons are transported.
