What did they lie about? They said that what they were given to look at had all the earmarks of a Russian misinformation campaign. It did. The data presented them was cultivated to make that so. The press then re-interpreted their carefully-worded statement as a declaration that the laptop was Russian misinformation.

They're guilty of not looking too closely, and making an overly circumspect statement that one could easily foresee would be misinterpreted. But that's not a crime. Or even, provably, professional misconduct.

Presenting intelligence that is selectively analyzed and interpreted and laundered through a compliant press to reach a particular conclusion is a tactic that has all the earmarks of a UKUSA misinformation campaign.

Everyone know this. The players and the played alike. It's all kayfabe.

The FBI had quickly established, months earlier, that the laptop was really Hunter Biden's, and these 51 were getting regular high level security briefings. They were told to sign the letter so that Biden, the Deep State presidential puppet candidate, would have talking points during the debate,  two weeks before the election.
