⚠️ Disclaimer: This is not intended to bait, but I don't want to stay silent, and have put it on the Deny Politics side. I am an advocate for laid back immigration policy concerning undocumented migrants.
Sorry not sorry.
The fight begins.
At the heart of this is this statement:
Our 5% are awesome. They rarely end up homeless or in prison, but the 95% that go elsewhere are the problem. And it looks like we are going to be federally forced to stop them whether we like it or not. Because our sanctuary policy harms places like Indiana and Ohio. We will be told we can't be that sanctuary anymore.
So how is this going to play out?
Trump Allies Threaten To Imprison San Diego Officials Who Fight Deportation
But I read that, and my first response is far from fear. It's a fear tactic sure, but it's not changing my immigration views. It's actually making me really really want to fight Trump. That's gotta apply to others.
I wish I was a county official that could go to jail for violating the threats of former Project 2025 Advocate, Stephen Miller.
I wish I could have THAT pulpit to fight this unsettling thing I believe is happening, but have to settle for use of my unabridged free speech in lieu of really being able to defy it.
Like me, I think there will be a willing subversive network forming.
Mexico is developing an app for migrants to alert them to impending detainment
A technological one. I say a WAYZ like platform updated by users for observed ICE activity.
It might end up with mass defiance. I already want to help migrants escape ICE. I have a desire to violate future federal law and risk everything because I am so opposed to the threatened upcoming immigration policy. And I guarantee there are enough like me, that it might take heavy-handed methods that inevitably draw cries of fascism.
There will be alert apps like the one being developed by Mexico. People will form networks and countermeasures to get migrants out of harms way, and it might become a defiant underground light-rail system.
The defiant all have our cameras and right to film ready to demonize La Migra if seen operating in publicly accessible locations. If the defiant can't keep them safe they will film law enforcement and proliferate the internet with videos of ICE being likened to storm troopers.
Maybe I'm getting way ahead of things, but my heart is already bleeding, as my worst fears about this administration are getting slowly confirmed. It's still mostly wait and see right now, but late January approaches quickly and defiant California is gearing up for a fight.
Sorry not sorry.

At the heart of this is this statement:
Quote:CBP has released more than 100,000 migrants into San Diego in the past year. The vast majority—more than 95% of them—only stay in town for a few days before connecting with relatives or friends in other parts of the country, according to data from the County of San Diego.
