When Science becomes perverted away from being a simple search for TRUTH, it becomes a tool for control.  (Such as we have it today.)

Technically, science itself is not something that can be perverted... if science (fact) is perverted, it's either not 'scientific,' or it's not complete.

Science doesn't try to control things, people however, try often.

But I agree that what we "see" of science reporting is frequently far from a search for truth, but instead a 'persuasive production.'
