Does it ALL get absorbed? What is retained and for how long? 

There are chelation processes which remove heavy metals by bonding them to wastes, and through which these heavy metals are removed over time.

Definitely, we are picking up heavy metals from foods and drinks in greater amounts and at greater frequency than we might do from immunizations.

If we can deal with these heavy metals, at natural levels, in our foods and drinks, it isn't that much of a problem dealing with the amounts used in medicines that we rarely take.

We probably have a greater burden of the likes of lead and mercury from the burning of gasoline with all of its normally included additives.
