Sadly I was a "TV kid" but back then it was made clear that subliminal targeting was the norm. You get those kind of warnings when a Parent is a sy-fy nerd. 
Just got a email alert that one of the new scams are malware in "legit" looking ads people may click on since it's near Xmas. Could not be happier I'm the most reluctant shopper you'd ever meet. Hopefully this'll make you laugh?
How do you pick & find good outer wear?
Watch lovely video's of folk hiking in the Scottish Highlands, or other northern video's, hit pause, write down labels on coat their wearing, THEN google!!!
Pretty sure algorithm's are at a complete loss with me. Footwear is a little more difficult, but you have to REALLY like those hikers!
The new techniques you've been describing are going to make for some awkward Christmas Dinner conversations with the adult kids. But thank you for making sure at least one of us in my family has a clue!!
