I don't understand why something so bad and obviously fake gets pushed as viral.

Really? No theories? Now, I haven't done any kind of rigorous review or analysis on this particular video, but, if it is indeed fake, and goes viral, I can think of several interesting theories. Perhaps its part of some cover-up, to discredit the topic. Perhaps content creators know that encouraging divisive debate along the lines of "this is fake but ufos are real!" creates more impressions and engagement that actually searching for truth. Perhaps people simply don't know any better -- it's easy to overestimate them.

Or, one of my favourites: perhaps the aliens are so clever that they deliberately cloak their crafts in cheap tinfoil and cheesy silhouettes, knowing that they will be dismissed.
