Hahaha I assure you, trolls were around lloooonngg before the Internet. I was a SysOp on 6 different BBSes, but primarily moderated only the one of them. Had to give several the boot over that stuff. They were around on Compuserve message boards circa late 80's, too.

Thank goodness there's still people around who remember that! 

Some people thought it was a thing evolved... trolls are not evolved... they have always existed... but in the old days I would just call them "assholes."
