So... is it going to become a compulsory part of "being American" to want our soveirgn military to be used as the righteous Calvary of Lord Jesus Christ, Amen?
That seems like something "Christian Nationalism" trending.
That takes us out of the secular "war on terror" and "axis of evil" into "The War on Terror By Our Lord Jesus Christ The Protector of The Gentile" territory.
The constitution just enshrines your freedom to practice (even batshit zealot) religion, and it can even be the majority morality and influence its democratically passed laws in "the spirit of god," *but* you never have to believe in the dogma to appreciate the secular nature of liberty and the benefit of whatever prevailing morality keeps order.
And if it ever becomes the case where the one true god and country are one in the same, it's time to cover myself with ash and go do vamachara things in a cemetery to shock the vedic injunction.
Why is our military the protectors of Christian persecution in Africa on Christmas? That's really our national message to the world now? Were the lord's Christian Calvary sending a Christmas message to the terrorists persecuting Christians.
While "god" and "country" are both examples of abstract ideals that serve a higher calling to identity and order, their similarity in application does not mean you have to use both equally. Especially when one seems to cover the other.
My country allows all reasonable and humane religious practice. So for me, when i do something "for country," I do something for the free practice of all its gods. Even the one that married the 6 year old in their fairy tale.
Their god is constitutionally equal to mine and yours. As disturbing as their mythology held up to modern times.
But hey, Hindu still marry you at 6 and then let you do whatever until its time... plus its from a f***ing story written 1400 years ago!
But when we do shit like this, and get into a f***ing "god-off" over who the better prophet is, we dont exactly acknowledge Christianty's long and violent history of burning heretics, idolators, and any woman with a sense of self-respect.
If you want invoke eye for an eye against the teachings of the god we so profanely weild in vain of that, the Muslims technically have a whole lot of catching up to do...
Christianity killed 177 million in world history to Islam's 32 million.
